You know you are at the perfect spot when the chef goes right out front and freshly cuts the herbs that are going into making your omelette.
The shack is open for breakfast and lunch from 8.30am to 4 pm and we had a delicious breakfast. The rest of the day was pretty much as forecasted so we caught up on reading and yoga ( an adjusted yoga for Nana with her right hand still healing ). The children appeared and disappeared depending on the rain as did the adults. By the late afternoon everybody was able to participate in some type of activity. We had a wonderful chat with Captain Dave after the ferry stopped. He stays here on the Island on his boat and Captains the ferry a few days a week. A good life indeed.
New Horizon looking pretty impressive on the dock.
This is the Island Runner ( with NH in the background) that Captain Dave takes back and forth every hour to the Island and mainland. A very busy service from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. It has been a wonderful experience to witness families enjoy time on an island without modern day technology. To listen to children call out “ Daddy I’ve got a bite” or “ I want to stay longer to catch a big one”
Here is an example of the family campsite as you walk along the Island. There are restrooms and showers close by and also running water at each site. If you want to have a camp fire they will sell you logs and you can have your own campfire. This is also the case for the boaters.
Nana is trying to figure out how to play disc golf !!
The end of another wonderful day finds Nandad sitting on the bow relaxing and enjoying the sunset. Tomorrow we will leave this wonderful spot and head for Plattsburgh NY side of the lake.
As I realize Nana was trying to explain how NH cruised from Rouses Point to Burton Island , I think this picture might better describe how NH got there! TheBoston Whaler at the end of the day.
